First Impressions
I got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G in the Vibe Violet finish and started using it as my daily driver. Right out of the box the phone feels solid yet surprisingly slim at 8.2 mm, and the violet hue gives it a fresh look.
Key Features
What really stands out is the 6.7‑inch HD+ display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Scrolling through feeds feels buttery smooth, and the adaptive brightness does a good job adjusting to indoor and outdoor lighting without draining the battery.
The 6000 mAh battery lives up to the claim of up to 26 hours of video playback. I could binge‑watch a series overnight and still have enough charge for a full day of mixed use. The 25 W fast charger tops up the phone from 0 % to 50 % in about 30 minutes.
Under the hood sits a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa‑core processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. For everyday tasks, social media, and light gaming it feels snappy, though the most demanding 3D games occasionally show a dip.
The camera setup is a 50 MP primary sensor plus a secondary lens. Daylight photos are sharp with good detail, and the f/1.8 aperture plus night mode delivers decent low‑light shots for a mid‑range phone.
Additional goodies include IP54 dust‑ and splash‑resistance, Samsung Knox security, and AI features like Google Gemini integration. The phone also promises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security patches.
